Laia (Basque Country), Szymon (Poland), Patrick (Austria), Hanna (Sweden) and Manon (Netherlands)

Yesterday we went to Vienna. The bus left at 7:30 and we arrived in Vienna at 10:45. First we went to the cathedral of St. Stephen´s. Here we got a guided tour about the cathedral. We went inside, underneath and on top of the cathedral. The guide told us about the history of the cathedral. It was very interesting to learn something about the Austrian History.

We all thought that the cathedral was very interesting and beautiful. We were also very surprised about the size of the cathedral. We also thought that the details in the cathedral were very beautiful and we were impressed about the amount of time they invested in making these beautiful sculptures and paintings. Because the cathedral was so big, we were wondering how they were able to build this large building during the 12th century.

Underneath the cathedral were the catacombs, all the dead bodies gave us a very scared and disgusted feeling. After a lot of stairs we were on top of the cathedral and we had a nice view of Vienna.

After the cathedral we had a typical Austrian lunch, we ate Wiener schnitzel and had some drinks. It was a lovely restaurant and the food was really nice.

Kunsthistorisches Museum and Leopold museum

Yesterday we started our tour to museums at 2 p.m. First we divided on two smaller groups, one went to the Kunsthistorisches museum and the other group to the Leopold museum.

The Kunsthistorisches museum is about history and not only about Austrian history. The museum is located in the middle of the city and at the other side there is the Naturhistorisches museum. When we entered we first went to the cloakroom and from there we went to the first exhibition and it was about Rome and Greece. There were many old stuff, like sculptors of many important persons in this age. After that we went to the next room, where we saw a lot of ancient art, for example on vases. From the Greek and Rome exhibition we went to the Egypt stuff. There we many old things, but the most interesting for most people was to saw the mummys and the sculptures of Egypt gods like Sekhmet. It was also interesting to see all the paintings from all world, the most was about Kings and royal families.

After that attractions we went to the Leopold museum, which is located on the other side of the road. One of the main attraction was the collection of Gustav Klimt and Egon Schiele art. There were a lot of interesting modern paintings of different things like humans bodies.

During the drive to the centre of Vienna we got to see a lot of beautiful architecture of the city. We loved our day in Vienna and we would love to visit the capital of Austria again.  If we are visiting Vienna again in the future, we would like to have some more time to visit other great highlights of the city.
