VIENNA, VIENA, WIEN, WENEN, WIEDEN

After 3 hours of bus and many exciting feelings, we finally arrived in Vienna. The whole group stopped at Saint Stephen’s cathedral where we followed a scary tour. This took us through the catacombs. Inside the catacombs there was a big room filled with urns. We were told that inside the urns there were some human organs mixed with alcohol. Besides the scary urns, there were many mass graves. These were small spaces filled up completely with human remains. We also went to the inside storage of the cathedral which was very high up. From there we could see a view of whole Vienna, which really amazed us.

When we finished the tour, we walked to Wienerwald, where we ate a typical Austrian dish called Wiener schnitzel. While we were going to the restaurant we saw the centre of Vienna, which was full of shops, but we did not have enough time to see it because we were walking so fast (we were in a hurry sadly). Talking about the food, we thought almost all of us thought it was nice but some of us did not like it.

The art museum, Leopold museum, was a little bit boring because most students didn’t like the type of art in that museum. The paintings were surreal and most of us don’t like the style. Besides, the amount of paintings was quite limited. The other museum’s architecture was very beautiful and we were completely amazed by it. The Egyptian’s exposition was really interesting since you got to see the coffins where the mummies were kept.  In addition, we saw some statues that were really interesting for us because of how they were made.

To sum up, we really enjoyed our day in Vienna, but the truth is that we would have liked sightseeing the city as it was our first time here and going into two museums was kind of waste of money and time. As a tip for next time, give the students more spare time to explore the city themselves.
